He is Uday bin Hatim bin Abdullah bin Saad bin Al-Hashrj bin Imru Al-Qais bin Uday bin Akhzam bin Abi Akhzam bin Rabia bin Jarul bin Thaal bin Amr bin Al-Ghawth bin Tai .. and he was nicknamed Abi Tarif and Abi Wahb.

At the time of his death, he was one hundred and twenty years old.. Therefore, his birth would be between the years 51-54 before the Hijrah.

The birth of Uday bin Hatim Al-Taie.

Uday bin Hatim grew up in the pre-Islamic era, in a house known as generosity.

His father is Hatim Al-Ta’i, who used to be an example of generosity, and he was one of the three who were famous for their extreme generosity during the pre-Islamic era.

his Islam..

The great companion and Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, may God bless his face, had a great role in converting the Ta’ tribe to Islam, a Christian Arab tribe that used to live in the Levant.

The Messenger sent the best prayers and peace be upon him, Imam Ali, to that tribe, so the invasion was completed.

And one of the results of that invasion was the occurrence of captivity in the hands of the Muslims of that tribe.

Among the captives was Safana bint Hatim al-Ta’i, and a dialogue took place between her and the Holy Prophet, may God’s prayers be upon him. In it, she mentioned that she was from a woman among her people, and that she was the daughter of Hatim Al-Ta’i, so the Prophet released her captivity.

Before his conversion to Islam, Uday ibn Hatim was one of the staunchest enemies of Islam, because Islam threatened his leadership of his tribe.

However, after his sister Safana converted to Islam, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came to me in the 7th year of the Hijrah, corresponding to the year 628 AD. In order to explore this new religion.

The great companion Uday bin Hatim Al-Taie.

In the beginning, Uday had no intention of adopting Islam, and when he arrived in Medina and met the Holy Prophet in the mosque, he noticed that he never claimed kingship or leadership.

So he knew that the Messenger, may God’s prayers be upon him, was not seeking to have a king or the position of a leader among his people, so he took him to his home and there he talked with him about the matter of Islam..and this was what he said to him:

Perhaps, O Uday, what prevents you from entering into this religion is what you see of the Muslims’ need and poverty. By God, money is about to overflow among them.

Until there is no one to take it, and perhaps O Uday, what prevents you from entering this religion is what you see of the small number of Muslims and the large number of their enemies.

By God, you will soon hear of a woman leaving Al-Qadisiyah on her camel to visit this house, fearing nothing but God.

Perhaps O Uday, what prevents you from entering this religion is that you see that the king and the authority are in others, so they are weak.

By God, you will soon hear of the white palaces of the land of Babylon that have been opened to them, and that the treasures of Chosroes have come to them.

Then Uday converted to Islam and lived until the year 68 AH – 688 AD.

His works in Islam.

Uday bin Hatim has important roles and many pillars that have contributed to changing the face of events, including:.

His steadfastness and his people and his tribe were a burden on Islam, and they did not apostate after the death of the Prophet in some of those who apostatized from the religion.

Uday witnessed the conquest of Iraq, the battle of al-Qadisiyah, the battle of Mahran, and the day of the bridge..and he had a good affliction in it.

And his dress was on Al-Walid bin Aqaba when he drank alcohol and abused his conduct, so he participated in his isolation from the state of Kufa.

Uday, may God be pleased with him, died in the year 69 AH and lived to be 100 years old.

More than sixty hadiths have been narrated on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.

May God be pleased with him and all the companions of the Messenger of God.
